Fugitive from Georgia arrested in Lenoir County

Following a short standoff, a fugitive from Georgia was arrested Tuesday by deputies from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Octavious McCord, 33, of Griffin, Ga., had felony weapons charges from Georgia and was taken into custody at 2184 Pauls Path Road by LCSO Special Response Team (SRT) members Tuesday. Earlier in the day, LCSO deputies received information McCord was hiding at 3356 Kurt Drive in La Grange and started an investigation at that address.

While investigating, deputies discovered the suspect had been staying at the Kurt Drive address but had left with a female in a 2014 white Honda Accord before they arrived. The vehicle was seen at the Pauls Path address and a male subject matching McCord’s description was seen walking towards the residence.

The vehicle left the Pauls Path residence and was stopped on Pauls Path by law enforcement, but McCord was not in the vehicle.

Deputies went to the 2184 Pauls Path address and received permission from the homeowner to search the home; the homeowner told investigators a male had entered the home but didn’t know his name.

LCSO SRT members responded to the address with a Bearcat due to the circumstances and charges. After a short standoff, they took McCord into custody without injury to the suspect or deputies.

McCord was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under two fugitive warrants and wasn’t given a bond.
