An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with a February shooting of a 15-year-old juvenile in La Grange.

On Thursday, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Da’Marie Jyz’mire Gray of La Grange on a first-degree attempted murder charge. The charge stemmed from a Feb. 17 incident in which a 15-year-old juvenile was shot in the hand and upper leg while walking down the road in the 500 block of North Forbes Street in La Grange.

Following an investigation by LCSO detectives, the attempted first-degree murder warrant was issued for Gray on Wednesday; he was picked up by detectives with assistance from the LCSO D-Shift and the county’s SCARR (Street Crimes and Rapid Response) team on Thursday.

Gray was placed in the W.E. “Billy” Smith Detention Center with no bond.
