Juveniles lead officers on a chase after breaking and entering
KPD Officers on D-Squad responded to an alarm at 225 E New Bern Road (Neuse Sport Shop). Officers arrived on scene and located a broken window. As additional officers were responding to the business, they passed a vehicle traveling away from scene without any lighting. Officers attempted to to stop the vehicle and the vehicle began to flee.
KPD Officers pursued the vehicle until it came to stop on Lotus Place after striking a residence. Three occupants jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend a fourth subject (16 year old male) from the vehicle.
Officers were able to identify one of the three subjects that fled from the seen as another 16 year old juvenile.
KPD is currently working with Juvenile Justice and pursing charges on the juveniles.

Rhodes wanted to assure the community that the firearms inventory at Neuse Sport Shop is heavily secured, and none were taken during this incident.
No injuries have been reported and damage to the residence was minimal. A KPD patrol vehicle also received minor damage during this incident.
