Kinston Police apprehend armed suspects at St. Johns Village Apartment Complex
Case Update
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, Detectives with the Kinston Police Department obtained additional warrants on Na’s Whitfield for Felony Carrying a Gun on Educational Property and Carrying a concealed weapon. Whitfield remains in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of an individual armed with a handgun on the campus of Kinston High School. Upon receiving this information, the school resource officer and numerous officers responded to the scene to locate the individual.
As officers began investigating, it was determined that the suspects, Na’s Whitfield, 18, of Kinston, and Knowledge Johnson, 20, of Kinston, had left the area before law enforcement's arrival. A short time later, both were located at the 6 building of St. Johns Village Apartment Complex. During their arrest, officers were able to gain lawful access to the apartment and located the firearm.
At this time, both suspects have been arrested and placed in the Lenoir County Jail for Trespassing, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. This case is still active, and additional charges will be sought against the pair and anyone who may have assisted them.
