Suspect arrested after armed robbery at Kinston convenience store
A Kinston man has been arrested after he robbed a convenience store early this morning.
Marshall Grady, 21, of Will Baker Road in Kinston, robbed the Speedway at 1608 U.S. Highway 258 South, Kinston at gunpoint at 2:42 a.m. today. He left with stolen money from the store.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, the LCSO's Special Response Team (SRT) and the Kinston Police Department (KPD) tracked the suspect to the old Destiny Ministries Church at 508 E New Bern Rd, which was abandoned; Grady broke into the church and was hiding inside.
An LCSO K-9 deputy tracked him to the church; the KPD deployed a drone and several officers. The LCSO also deployed a boat, the SRT Bearcat, several SRT members and deputies. Adult N.C. Probation also assisted with the case.
The agencies surrounded the location, deployed gas and the K-9. Grady was taken into custody at 7:27 a.m. with no injuries to him or the LEOs.
He was charged with:
· Robbery with a dangerous weapon
· Second-degree kidnapping
· Possession of a firearm by a felon
· Assault by pointing a gun
Grady was placed into the Lenoir County Jail with a secured bond.
“It was a great team effort with a successful ending,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “We truly appreciate our team members and the assistance of the Kinston Police Department in this matter.”
