Bethel Christian Academy Achieve Accreditation
Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) has announced that they have achieved accreditation by the North Carolina Christian School Association (NCCSA) effective May 1, 2024, for a term of five years. According to the press release received, NCCSA School Accreditation provides a benchmark for Christian schools which measures standards, performance, integrity, and quality.
Schools engage in a voluntary process of self-evaluation against accepted best practices and educational standards. This evaluative process involves the visit of an accreditation team of Christian education professionals who scrutinize the following standards for accreditation: philosophy and administration, governance, school improvement plan, finances, facilities, school climate and organization, health and safety, educational program, assessment, studen services, student life and activities, and information resources and technology. The accreditation process is designed to assist schools in achieving a standard of excellence and provide the framework for the ongoing School Improvement Program (SIP) of the school.
Principal Douglas K. Phillips shared “My heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Pridgen, Vice Principal & Accreditation Coordinator, and Mrs. Croom, Academic Advisor & Assistance Accreditation Coordinator, for their exemplary leadership in guiding BCA to this prestigious recognition.”
Philips went on to share “Under their stewardship, BCA has diligently worked towards achieving accreditation over the past five years, demonstrating a commitment to providing students with a nurturing environment rooted in a Biblical worldview and academic rigor. The accreditation serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of students, parents, teachers, and staff who have collectively contributed to this achievement.”
According to BCA’s website, BCA was founded on the mission to assist families by equipping students to embrace a Biblical worldview, strive for academic excellence, and influence their homes, churches, and communities through Christ-like character, BCA remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
The NCCSA accreditation protocol has been formally recognized by the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education and is approved by the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA) through a co-accreditation agreement with the North American Christian School Accrediting Agency (NACSAA). As part of the onsite team visit, a representative of NACSAA participated in the peer review and report writing process. NACSAA partners with AdvancED/Cognia and the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) to provide co-accreditation to NCCSA member schools desiring to pursue regional accreditation.
"I am very proud of our students, parents, teachers, and staff, who worked very hard for the past 5 years to see the academy receive this honor," said Principal Phillips.
