School of Rock The Musical will hit the Turner Stage this summer with its energetic portrayal of Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck rocker who finds inspiration in unlikely places. When Dewey takes on a teaching gig at a prestigious prep school, he discovers the hidden musical talents of his students and forms a rock band with them. With its catchy tunes, lively performances, and heartwarming storyline, this performance captures the essence of rock 'n' roll and the transformative power of music!

The show, directed by Lenoir Community College's Fine Arts Program Chair Jessica Cruz, will occur on July 12 -14 and July 19 - 21 at LCC in the Briley Auditorium on the Turner Stage. Neuse News is the title sponsor. This show is one of many that will be a part of the performing arts series at LCC. Tickets are available now at www.lenoircc.edu/schoolofrock.  Tickets are $15 for accessible seating; $20 for orchestra seating; $15 for standard seating; and $10 for student standard seating (ages 4-17; 18+ student ID required).

Yasmeen Cooper will be playing the role of Shonelle, a student in Dewey Finn’s class of young rockers. Cooper is a smart, energetic, happy, and loving little social butterfly! She’s the boss when it comes to her two brothers. She is no stranger to the stage and was born to be a performer. Whether it’s a dance competition, singing in the choir at church, or performing at events, she brings joy to anyone around her.

Gianna Cruz is thrilled to take on the role of Marcy, a studious and rule-abiding prep school student who learns to embrace the true essence of rock 'n' roll. As shown in her role as Matilda in Matilda The Musical, she brings passion and energy to every performance she takes part in. When she's not on stage, Cruz can be found roller skating, dancing, and singing her heart out. She would like to thank her family for always supporting her.

Thomas Humphrey will play the role of Freddy who finds his passion for music in this energetic performance. Humphrey was born to rock and started banging on the drums when he was only nine years old. Recognizing his natural talent, his parents wasted no time enrolling him in drum and guitar lessons. His dedication and hard work have led to significant improvement in both instruments. However, Humphrey’s true passion lies in playing the guitar, making it his favorite activity.

Joseph Tilghman will take on the role of Lawrence, a student who discovers his incredible talent on the keyboard. Tilghman began playing the piano and keyboard at the age of six and loves learning new songs. You can often find him playing morning, noon, and night! He is the goalie for his local soccer team, and in his downtime, plays Fortnite with his little brother. One of his favorite things is spending quality time with family.

A rising sixth grader at Frink Middle School, Ava Wade, will be portraying the shy superstar, Sophie. Wade is excited to return to the Turner stage after performing in Matilda The Musical last summer. She enjoys dancing at Mooves Dance Studio, cheering at SupaStarz Athletics, and playing piano. Wade was also a member of STEAM Club and chorus at La Grange Elementary.
