Help wanted: Lenoir Community College - Director of Marketing and Communication

The Director of Marketing and Communications plans, designs, and conducts public relations programs to create and maintain a favorable public image for the College. This position is responsible for the planning and directing development and communication of information designed to keep the public and employees informed of college programs and accomplishments.

The duties of the Director of Marketing and Communications include, but are not limited to:

· Responsible for five major functional areas/projects for the College and Foundation: general marketing, communications and branding; publications; the College's website content and other electronic communications technology such as digital signage, TV monitors, and video production; and media and community relations

· Plan, direct, and implement the College's marketing and communications activities and is responsible for communicating consistent messages across print and electronic media including internet and social networking sites

· Ensure key strategic messages are communicated effectively to target audiences

· Produce, or act as liaison with companies that produce public relations materials, advertising, and marketing collateral

· Responsible for the creative strategies and direction of advertising and marketing materials and campaigns, work with graphic designers in producing materials distributed throughout service area, state and national publications and media outlets, evaluating and ensuring the quality of creative content for marketing outlets

· Manage, oversee, and develop strategies to enhance the College's public image

· Establish relationships with members of the media pitching stories to publications and monitoring media coverage; identify key messages and communicate them to potential college partners; and oversee production of internal and external materials such as brochures, press releases, web copy, and newsletters

· Edit, proofread, fact-check, and coordinate production of a variety of marketing communications materials and ensure that communications are accurate, clear, complete and correct in terms of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and editorial style and that they maintain a consistent tone and voice

· Serve as the liaison for the President in notifying the media and students of college closings and emergencies

· Serve as the College’s Public Information Officer

· Supervise Social Media Coordinator and Digital Marketing Coordinator in accomplishing the College's Marketing and Communications Plan

· Responsible for administering the marketing budget

· Other duties as assigned by the College President

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution

· Five years of experience in the field of marketing, public relations, or a related field

· Knowledge of community college system preferred

· Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software and the ability to adapt to other professional software applications for resource development

· Ability to type at least 50 words per minute

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

· Knowledge of photography and videography skills

· Ability to work independently but also be a team player

· Ability to lead and direct operations

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license

Working Conditions

· Typical office environment

· Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more

· Evening and/or weekend hours are required as necessary

· Possess the visual acuity to prepare data and statistics and be able to operate a computer

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
