Obituary - Deana Daughety Layden

La Grange - Deana Denise Daughety Layden, 57, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Deana was born to Amy Harrison Daughety and the late A.B. Daughety, III on May 1, 1967. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Reba McCoy Wade and Sidney Harrison; paternal grandparents, A.B. Daughety, Jr. and Margaret Daughety; sister-in-law, Tracey Daughety; and nephew, Airman First Class Christopher Scott.

With a spirit of determination, Deana worked tirelessly to make her businesses a success. Though challenging times presented themselves throughout her career, she never gave up. She was grateful for the success of her three businesses that she was currently operating.

Holding a strong faith in her Lord, Deana lived her faith openly, most notably in her generosity toward others. Good-hearted to a fault, she would help anyone in need with no questions asked or judgment given.

Time at the beach was always a delight, and she was beyond excited every time she got a nibble on a fishing line. Each day started with a trip to Starbucks where her dose of caffeine gave the boost needed for her daily work. Mischievous from childhood, Deana never gave up that trait and endeared many to her with her playful personality.

For Deana, family was her everything. She maintained strong bonds with her siblings and her niece, Ashley, and she and her mama were inseparable. Her children were dear to her heart, and there was no greater love than that she shared with her grandchildren. Of her many titles, her favorite was “GaGa”.

A service to honor and celebrate Deana’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Percy Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. A private entombment will be held at a later date at Westview Cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Deana is survived by her children, Ryan Everett (Lourie), James Dean Smith, Aaron Layden, and Marcus Hawkins; grandchildren, Zoey, Alia, Marcus, Jr. and Carter; siblings, Wendi O’Neal Mendez, Allyson Daughety, and A.B. Daughety, IV; nephews, A.B. Daughety, V. and Trey Scott (Shanique); niece, Ashley Scott; special cousin, Krista Harrison; along with several great-nieces and nephews, great-great niece, and extended family.
