Kinston Public Services was honored with the Public Power of Excellence Award by the Board of Directors at ElectriCities of North Carolina. The award recognizes the city’s exceptional achievements in providing efficient and reliable power to its residents.

“The City of Kinston is honored to have been selected by the Board of Directors at ElectriCities of NC to receive the Public Power of Excellence Award,” said Mayor Don Hardy in a Facebook post. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to serving the citizens of Kinston with efficient and reliable power. We are dedicated to being the best providers of service in eastern North Carolina, and this award motivates us to continue working hard for our community.”

The award, presented on Aug. 14, highlights Kinston’s focus on strengthening public power, providing superior service, and prioritizing its people. A plaque commemorating the achievement will be displayed publicly.
