Burglar alarm leads to arrest after cemetery and dealership break-ins

On Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at approximately 5:00 AM, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at Pine Lawn Cemetery. Upon investigation, deputies discovered personal property scattered around the area, which led them to coordinate with Kinston Police Officers.

This joint investigation directed officers to Doug Henry Dealership, where they discovered that three vehicles had been broken into. While conducting a canine track as part of the investigation, officers spotted Justin Brown, 34-years-old from Lenoir County, running across Highway 70. Brown was immediately apprehended by officers and found to be in possession of property stolen from the vehicles.

Kinston Police Officers arrested Brown and placed him in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond. He is facing the following charges:

• Breaking and Entering (3 counts)
