La Grange man arrested after assault with firearm, multiple charges filed
An incident in La Grange Monday afternoon led to the arrest of a Greene County man on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
At approximately 3 p.m. Monday, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office was informed of an assault that occurred at 103 Hadley Street in La Grange involving a firearm. The LCSO Criminal Investigations Division, the Street Crimes and Ready Response (SCARR) unit and C-Shift patrol deputies responded to the address to locate the suspect, who was identified as Ryan Everett, 37, of La Grange.
While searching the La Grange area, SCARR detectives located a vehicle occupied by Everett and conducted a vehicle stop. He failed to comply with commands and fled the area on foot.
Additional LCSO personnel responded to the area and Everett was located at a S. Charles Street residence. Based on information obtained during the subsequent investigation, two LCSO canine teams were deployed on Summit Street, at which time a firearm, magazine and ammunition were located.
Everett was charged with:
· Felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
· Felony possession of a firearm with altered serial number
· Felony breaking and entering to terrorize
· Felony extortion
· Felony obstruction of justice
· Felony discharging a firearm to incite fear
· Misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon
· Misdemeanor discharging a firearm within city limits
· Misdemeanor resisting a public officer
Everett was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a no-bond hold, due to him being out on pretrial release for previous charges.
