Greene County 4-H shooting sports team members qualify for state

The Greene County 4-H shooting sports team traveled to the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC, to compete in the Eastern Regional Shooting Sports Tournament on Saturday, August 24. Fourteen of the team members qualified for the 4-H State Tournament on Saturday, September 14, at the Millstone 4-H Center and will compete against other youth from around the state.

In junior shotgun, the team "The Clay Crushers," composed of Ayden Jarman, Coy Beddard, Lane Jernigan, Logan Cobb, and Sawyer Edwards, qualified for the state tournament. In the junior rifle telescopic competition, individuals Hayden Perry, John Elks, Ayden Jarman, and Blair Criswell qualified for state. Additionally, in the junior division, Hayden Perry qualified under Junior Archery Compound, and Walker Wade qualified under Junior Air Pistol.

In the senior age group, Aubrey Beddard and Cooper Tilghman qualified for the state shotgun competition. Cooper Tilghman also qualified for Senior Archery Compound Hunter Sporter and Senior Archery Compound Match. Parker Johnson also qualified for Senior Archery Compound Match. Wriston Honeycutt qualified for three disciplines: Senior Rifle Open Sight, Senior Rifle Telescopic, and Senior Air Rifle. Team member Nicholas Wade qualified in Senior Air Rifle and Senior Air Pistol.
