Early this morning, a Kinston man and a Dover woman were arrested on three felonies each related to larceny of a work van.

Anthony Dwight Carlyle, 44, and Trista Gail Dickson, 40, were arrested by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office A-Shift patrol deputies. The arrests were the result of reports by concerned residents about two suspicious vehicles being in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Paul’s Path Road.

The residents reported one of the vehicle’s doors was open and a burglary might be occurring. When deputies arrived, they located Carlyle standing beside a work van and Dickson sitting in the second vehicle; when they started investigating, they determined crime was afoot.

Deputies attempted to detain Carlyle, but he tried to flee the area on foot; after a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody. Dickson was also taken into custody for an outstanding order for arrest.

After contacting the owner of the vehicle, deputies learned the van was stolen and driven to the Paul’s Path Road parking lot. Investigators also observed tools from the vehicle in Dickson’s vehicle, along with additional evidence from the stolen van.

Carlyle and Dickson were transported to the Lenoir County Magistrate’s Office for processing. Both received the following charges:

·      One count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle

·      One count of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle

·      One count of felony conspiracy

·      One count of misdemeanor larceny

·      One count of misdemeanor resisiting a public officer

Carlyle received no bond due to being on pre-trial release while Dickson received a $5,000 secured bond.
