Lenoir County couple arrested for animal cruelty after dogs found dead

Two Lenoir County residents have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after dead dogs were found on their property.

Randy Avon Thompson, 45, and Mary Lou Thompson, 36, of 2134 Southwood Rd., Kinston, were arrested earlier today at their workplace (Wayne Auto Salvage, 1911 Hwy 117 South, Goldsboro) by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office following an animal welfare investigation by Lenoir County Animal Control that started on Monday.

The Animal Control investigation revealed two dead dogs on the Southwood Road property. Animal Control officers charged the Thompsons with four felony counts of animal cruelty and four misdemeanor counts of improper disposal of a domestic animal.

Mr. Thompson received no bond and is being currently incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail. Mrs. Thompson received a $10,000 unsecured bond.
