A 23-year-old Kinston man was arrested Wednesday in Deep Run for possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

While conducting proactive enforcement in the Deep Run area Wednesday, detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crimes and Ready Response) unit stopped a vehicle occupied by Tyquan Johnson for a traffic violation. During the stop, detectives conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, in which a white powder was discovered.

The powder tested positive as fentanyl. Johnson also had an outstanding order for arrest.

He was arrested and charged with felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Johnson was transported to the Lenoir County Detention Center, where he was issued a $7,500 secured bond for the new charges and a $1,000 unsecured bond for the Order for Arrest.
