Kinston detectives charge 21-year-old in deadly Friday night shooting

On Monday, September 23, 2024, detectives from the Kinston Police Department secured warrants for 21-year-old Bryson Bradley of Lenoir County. He is charged in connection with the murder of Korie Williams and the attempted murder of Yahmmek Coward, Lyasia Lawson, and Deshakeen Turnage.

The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated. On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 8:50 pm, Kinston Police Officers responded to the 300 block of S. McDaniels St., Kinston, N.C., for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Lenoir County EMS was called to the scene, and both victims were transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment. While en route to the hospital, one of the victims, Korie Williams, 25, of Kinston, was pronounced deceased, and the second victim, Yameek Coward, 18, of Kinston, was transferred to ECU Health for treatment. Kinston Police Department Investigators responded to the scene and are currently following up on leads.
