Lenoir County Man Charged After Shooting at Motor Vehicle

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, officers from the Kinston Police Department's C-Squad responded to reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that he was turning from Old Snow Hill Road when the suspect began shooting at him from a residence on Greenmead Drive.

Fearing for his safety and that of his 10-year-old daughter, the victim fled the scene and met with officers at a safe location. Law enforcement quickly located the crime scene and recovered evidence related to the shooting.

Through their investigation, officers identified the suspect as Samron Lewis, 20, of Lenoir County. Lewis was subsequently taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

Assault With a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (2 counts)

Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle

Discharging a Firearm Within the City Limits
