Earlier this morning, we shared news of an arrest related to an armed robbery at the Circle K. Thanks to valuable information from our followers, it was revealed that the suspect had initially provided officers with a false name.

Since confirming this information, we have successfully updated the suspect’s records, and he has now been booked under his correct identity.

Kinston Man Arrested in Armed Robbery at Circle K

On January 27, 2025, at approximately 2:26 AM, the Kinston Police Department's D-Squad responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Circle K located on W Vernon Avenue. Upon arrival, the store clerk informed officers that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Bernard Bowden JR of Kinston, attempted to purchase alcohol after hours. When the transaction was denied, Bowden stated the he had a firearm and then fled the scene with the stolen alcohol.

Bowden was located nearby, and as officers attempted to make contact with him, he entered a residence on W Washington Avenue without the owner’s permission. Officers arrested Bowden without further incident.

He has been charged with Armed Robbery, Breaking and Entering, and Trespassing. Bowden remains in the Lenoir County Jail without bond.

Additionally, Bowden was charged with providing a false name to officers after his true identity was confirmed.
