Lenoir County 4-H Highlights 2024 Achievements
The Lenoir County 4-H Achievement Night, held on December 3, 2024, was a wonderful celebration of the hard work, dedication, and service of local youth and volunteers involved in the 4-H program. The event, hosted at the Lenoir County Cooperative Extension office by 4-H Agent Abbigail Wells and 4-H Program Assistant Joel Dixon, brought together families, 4-H members, volunteers, and community supporters to reflect on the achievements of the past year and recognize the exceptional contributions of those who make the program a success.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of youth members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and accomplishments in various areas of 4-H. Areas included Animal Science, Shooting Sports, Healthy Lifestyles, 4-H Presentations, Communication & Expressive Arts, Plant Science, Camp, and Livestock. The youth honorees were celebrated for their hard work in a range of projects and activities from the year, showcasing not only their talent but also their growth as individuals.
The Lenoir County 4-H Shooting Sports Club and the Future Homesteaders 4-H Club were recognized for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to the 4-H mission. The 4-H Shooting Sports Club was recognized for its continued success in teaching young people safe and responsible firearm use, as well as fostering leadership and discipline through the sport. Club members who participated in shooting events and training sessions were applauded for their skill development, safety awareness, and sportsmanship. The Future Homesteaders Club was honored for its focus on sustainability, gardening, and agricultural skills. Members of this club have gone the extra mile to showcase their knowledge in 4-H presentations, community projects, and more.
In addition to celebrating the achievements of the youth and clubs, the night also acknowledged the tireless efforts of volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to make 4-H programs and/or our clubs possible. Volunteers play a pivotal role in mentoring, guiding, and supporting 4-H members throughout the year, and their contributions were celebrated through various awards.
As Lenoir County 4-H looks to the new year, there is much to be excited about! With the continued growth of clubs and programs, along with the support of dedicated volunteers and families, the 4-H program is poised to further strengthen its impact on the youth of Lenoir County.
The evening concluded with an overwhelming sense of pride in the youth, volunteers, and the staff. It was a reminder that the success of Lenoir County 4-H is not only measured in awards but in the growth, leadership, and community spirit it fosters year after year.
