Salary: $31,200 - $36,000 Annually

Career and College Promise Admissions Staff Assistant

The Career and College Promise Admissions Staff Assistant provides support for all aspects of the Career & College Promise Program from application through enrollment, and reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting. The CCP Admissions Staff Assistant also assists with program and event implementation as it relates to the population served by the Director of High School Programs and College Access.

Qualifications

·         Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution 

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the use of a variety of office equipment to include fax machine, photocopier, scanner, and videoconferencing and telephone systems 

·         Excellent typing, public relations, communications, and problem-solving skills 

·         Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 

·         Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality 

·         Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred

Working Conditions

·         Office suite environment 

·         Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the CCP Admissions Staff Assistant include, but are not limited to:

·         Process new dual enrollment applications

·         Disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, and e-mail

·         Organize and maintain the student file system to include receiving applications, entering data into Datatel, making folders, receiving transcripts, and scanning all documents

·         Greet students and visitors

·         Respond to phone requests for information regarding Career & College Promise

·         Create spreadsheets, compose correspondence, and manage databases

·         Assist with events and activities

·         Coordinate with other departments within the College

·         Assist with reports

·         Process secondary major forms

·         Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Recruiting, Director of High School Programs and Student Access, Dean of Student Services, and Senior Vice President of Student Services and Workforce Development

Public Safety Fire Coordinator/Instructor

 

The Public Safety Fire Coordinator/Instructor is responsible for instructing and coordinating the College’s fire and rescue training programs by NCCCS and OSFM standards. This position reports directly to the Dean of Workforce Development.

Qualifications

·         Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in fire protection technology or a related field is required; a bachelor's or master’s degree is preferred

·         3-5 years experience in the fire protection service is required; experience in fire training is preferred

·         NC Fire Instructor I Qualification is required; NC Fire Instructor II Qualification is preferred

·         Experience in developing educational programs is preferred

·         1-3 years of experience in developing educational programs for adult learners is preferred

Working Conditions

·         Typical office environment

·         Some outdoor instruction may be required based on the course being taught 

·         Based on the course being taught, work environments may include live burn situations or other potentially dangerous working conditions; the ability to work with proper safety equipment is required in these situations

·         Infrequently lifting and carrying items up to 150 pounds 

·         Infrequently bending and twisting at the waist 

·         Evening and weekend work hours 

·         Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, mouse, and telephone 

·         Infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, between campuses, and to off-campus sites

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Public Safety Fire Coordinator/Instructor include, but are not limited to: 

·         Perform personnel management functions including recruiting, interviewing, and recommending the appointment of instructional staff (adjunct faculty) to the Dean of Workforce Development

·         Provide appropriate adjunct faculty orientation and submit all hiring documents and verification of credentials for all adjunct faculty 

·         Assist adjunct faculty in course planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management 

·         Prepare a master schedule of course offerings each semester that meets the needs of the program area, the students, and the community

·         Assign teaching schedules for adjunct faculty 

·         Supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty and the operation of all courses including class visitations by policy 

·         Identify and recommend professional development needs of the adjunct faculty 

·         Resolve student grievances with instructors, when justified 

·         Facilitate the communication of division and college information to adjunct faculty via meetings, emails, etc., as needed 

·         Facilitate the selection and ordering of textbooks 

·         Manage any conflict within program areas, striving to find an amicable resolution 

·         Review, evaluate, and assess programs and courses periodically 

·         Ensure each program and course is in full compliance with the requirements for accreditation, certification, and other standards as stipulated by the North Carolina Community College System and the NC Office of the State Fire Marshal

·         Coordinate the requisition of resources and services including equipment, supplies, facilities, and other materials required for the effective delivery of instruction 

·         Develop and distribute a course outline according to established procedures, providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations and evaluative criteria 

·         Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required documents in a timely, efficient manner, meeting all deadlines, assuring accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data 

·         Serve on and actively contribute to college committees as needed and as appointed by the dean

·         Participate in divisional and instructional meetings and other announced activities of the College 

·         Maintain proper communication and supportive relationships at all times with all departments and divisions of the College
