Obituary: Donnie (Belle) Turner Hill
Donnie (Belle) Turner Hill 97, of Kinston North Carolina passed away peacefully on February 21st, at Ayden Court Skilled Nursing Facility. Donnie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Edward E. Hill and her parents Herbert and Junnie Byrd Turner. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Prentice Turner, Arden Turner, Curfue Turner, Kermit Turner, and her sisters Dorothy Turner Sumrell, Faye Turner Howard, and Gaynelle Turner Malpass.
She is survived by her children Gail Rogers, Eddie Hill and wife Faye, Jeff Hill and wife Regina, Craig Hill and wife Gina, Alan Hill and wife Janice. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Tripp Hill, Tracy Mills (Starkey), Nichole Baggett (Alan), Kellan Bryant (Jason), Chelsea Brasch (Chris), Kristin Allison (Austin), Jared Hill (Laci), Kevin Hill (Ashley), Jana Barefoot (Chris), Ashlyn Tolbert (Kyle), and Brady Hill (Kori). Additionally, she is survived by 17 great grandchildren with two more on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donnie was affectionately known as Donnie Belle, Miss Donnie, Miss Hill, Ma, Mom, Momma, Mother, Grandma, Memomma, Grams, and Aunt Donnie. She embraced each role in her life with love, passion, and humor. Her sharp wit, storytelling antics and poetry were legendary along with her work ethic and commitment to her faith, family, and friends. She laughed often, she loved with all her heart. She never met a stranger and made everyone welcome in her home. Her passions were her family, cooking, and her commitment to being a lifelong learner. She was an active member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church until her health would not allow her to attend. She lived an exemplary long life and was blessed with a large family and many friends. We give thanks and celebrate a life well lived.
A private family graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park 448 Highway 70 West Kinston, NC. Arrangements by Howard and Carter Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be on Monday February 24th at 2:00 p.m at Westminster United Methodist Church 1001 Westminster Lane, Kinston NC. The family will receive visitors immediately after the service in the fellowship hall.
