Obituary: Ursula M. Johnson

Kinston - Ursula M. Johnson, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Feb. 28, at 2pm at the Mausoleum at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5-7pm at Edwards Funeral Home.

Born in Germany to Johann and Paulina Muller, Ursula was trained as a nanny during her schooling. She later fell in love with a U.S. Army solider, Richard Johnson, whom she married while he was stationed in Germany. Together, they built a life and a family, eventually returning to his hometown of Kinston, NC. Ursula took great pride in her home, was an exceptional cook, and had a deep love for crafting. She found joy in life’s simple things but above all her family was her greatest source of happiness.

Ursula is survived by sister, Erika Chester (Dale), her daughters, Nanci Edwards, and husband, Dennis, Diane Atkinson, and husband, Nicky; and Natalie Krofchick, and husband, Robert; five grandchildren, James (Ashley), Stacey (Allen) Cameron, Ashton, and Jarrod, as well as five great-grandchildren, Pallas, Mason, Greyson, and Hudson. Additionally, she was blessed with two loving step-granddaughters Tia and Juanita.
