Ruth Privette, 88, of Newport, formerly of Kinston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. Her service will be Saturday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kinston.

Obituary: Mary Kathy Hughes Beaman

Mary Kathy Hughes Beaman, age 72, passed away Saturday morning, November 11th, 2023. A Service of Death and Resurrection to remember and celebrate Kathy’s life will be held by the graveside 2 PM Tuesday, November 14th, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend Emily Hamil-Blair officiating. The family will greet friends and extended family at the cemetery immediately following the service.

Humphrey seeking re-election to NC House

Last month, the General Assembly passed new district maps for Congress, NC House, and NC Senate. Not subject to the Governor’s approval, these maps are now law and will take effect for the 2024 Election. Voters across the state have been learning more about their new districts, and the candidates running to represent them.

Kinston City Council Election Results: Hardy, Solomon, and Seaforth Triumph

The 2023 municipal unofficial election results for the Kinston City Council race are in, and the residents of Kinston have made their voices heard. Incumbents Mayor Pro Tem Antonio Hardy, City Council Member Felicia Solomon, and City Council Member Sammy Aiken hoped to secure their seats for another term against opponents Les Lipford and Barbara Seaforth. Hardy, Solomon, and Seaforth secured a seat on the Kinston City Council.
