Kinston Police Arrest Armed Suspect, Recover Stolen and Modified Firearm
On February 20, 2025, at approximately 9:39 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad responded to a shots fired call in the 1500 block of Stroud Avenue. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with a group of individuals who immediately fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, resulting in the apprehension of Erion Strong (19, of Kinston).
During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm equipped with an extended magazine that had been illegally modified with a “switch.” Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen from Clayton, NC.
Strong was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was placed under a secured bond. He faces the following charges:
• Possession of a Stolen Firearm
• Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction
• Resisting a Public Officer
• Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance
