On February 21, 2025, KPD’s B-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W Vernon Avenue. During the stop, officers made contact with the occupants when the passenger, Omarion Lewis (22, Trenton, NC), began reaching around the vehicle before throwing a handgun onto the dashboard.

Lewis was removed from the vehicle, and the driver, Takahri Evans (23, Goldsboro, NC), informed officers of a second concealed firearm inside the vehicle . Officers recovered both firearms, which were illegally concealed.

Both Lewis and Evans were cited and released from the scene, and the firearms were seized.
