Traffic stop leads to seizure of illegal firearms
On February 21, 2025, KPD’s B-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W Vernon Avenue. During the stop, officers made contact with the occupants when the passenger, Omarion Lewis (22, Trenton, NC), began reaching around the vehicle before throwing a handgun onto the dashboard.
Lewis was removed from the vehicle, and the driver, Takahri Evans (23, Goldsboro, NC), informed officers of a second concealed firearm inside the vehicle . Officers recovered both firearms, which were illegally concealed.
Both Lewis and Evans were cited and released from the scene, and the firearms were seized.
“Our officers remain vigilant in enforcing the law and keeping illegal firearms off our streets. We will continue working to ensure the safety of our community.” - Chief Keith Goyette
