David Randall Huggins, 76, of Kinston, NC entered into eternity on June 6, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. A funeral service will be held at Tanglewood Church, 2102 Rouse Road, Kinston NC, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow.
Lemuel Jerry Potter Jr, 70, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside committal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.
Elwood Eugene Tyndall, 80, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5th at 11:00 am-12:00 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral services to follow, with Reverend Danny Durden officiating. Graveside Services will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC at 2:00 p.m.
After a brief, and courageous, battle with cancer, Sadie “Lib” Mitchell, passed away peacefully and entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church, 3297 Falling Creek Road, Kinston, NC, with Pastor Terry Coates officiating. Visitation with reception will follow service. Burial will follow immediately after reception at Rainbow United Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill.
A private committal service was held May 29, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. A memorial service will be held June 18, 2025 (visitation 11:30am – 12:00pm, service of remembrance at 12:00pm with a reception immediately following) at Edwards Funeral Home, 702 N. Queen St., Kinston, NC.
Shirley Marie Heath, 90, passed away May 26, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. The funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Dorothy Mae “Dot” Whaley Gaskins peacefully entered into the joy of her salvation on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 by the graveside at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woodington Ward, 6655 US-258, Deep Run, NC.
Yvonne Jacqueline Maynard Kasper, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Honey’s Assisted Living in Kinston, NC.

Plato Collins Barwick (P.C.), Jr, 87, died peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025 at The Cypress Glen of Greenville. A visitation with family will be held Friday evening, May 16, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kinston Country Club. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 17th at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 800 Rountree St, Kinston, NC with Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in St. Francis Garden at St. Mary’s Church.
It is with heartfelt remembrance that we share the passing of Diane Rosso Whitehurst, 77, of Raleigh, NC, who left this world on April 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. A funeral Mass celebrating Diane’s life will be held at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church on Thursday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Tom Elitz, SJ. A visitation will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Diane’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Arey Wilson Grady Jr. was born on October 9, 1949, in Goldsboro North Carolina to Arey Wilson Grady Sr. and Martha Ernestein Grady. He is now reunited with them in Heaven as with his sister Sue Mungo. He is survived by his loving (and patient) wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Grady, and his sons Arey Wilson Grady III and James “Punk” Grady and his wife Whitney Grady. Arey was a proud grandfather and was lovingly known to his five grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Thomas, Caroline, and Eliza as “Bud”. He is also survived by his sister Laura Cutherbertson and nephew Lee Percise and wife Megan Percise. A service celebrating the life of Arey Grady will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Kinston at 3 PM Sunday, May 4th.
Edna Earl Daughety King, born on December 25, 1931, passed away on May 1, at her home. She was surrounded by her children and family. A lifelong member of Armenia Christian Church, she loved her church family dearly. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made payable to Armenia Christian Church.
H. Louie Eargle of Waxhaw and Kinston, NC, passed away September 1, 2024, in Chapel Hill of complications from a fall. He was 92 years old. Louie will be remembered as a loving uncle, an accomplished musician, raconteur, and loyal friend.
