La Grange-Hillard Lee “Buddy” Beard, 88, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 in the comfort of his own home while surrounded by his loving family. A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 with Pastor Ron Fletcher officiating.
James B Wade “JB” 91, of Kinston, NC passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The visitation will be held for friends and family at Howard and Carter Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 with the funeral service to follow. A private Graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery
Winterville – Morris W. Luckett, 79, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 am in Ayden Christian Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
UPDATE: A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Craig Ham officiating. A private burial service will take place at a later time.
James Marion Parrott, Jr. died on January 11, 2025. He was born in Kinston, North Carolina on February 8, 1947, the son of James M. Parrott and Erwin W. Parrott. A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, on Thursday, January 16th at 2:00 p.m.
Sarah Ellen Archie passed away peacefully on January 4th at home with Joe Archie, her husband of 64 years, by her side. A celebration of Sarah Ellen’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 1pm at Christ Church in Raleigh.
Vivian Carol Thompson, 88, of Kinston, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Harmony Hall, Kinston, NC. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Truett officiating.
Eddie Hudson Jr., 59, passed away on January 7th, 2025. His funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 12th, at 2PM in the Chapel at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Frazier Hughes Bruton, 92, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Spring Arbor of Kinston. Services will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at Faith Fellowship Church, 2278 Pauls Path Road, Kinston, NC at 11:00 am. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
James Bruce Croom, 88, of the Moss Hill community passed away on January 3, 2025 at Magnolia Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home.

John Wade Deme, a devoted horticulturist and educator, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at the age of 83. The family will greet friends Sunday, December 22nd, from 2-3pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
