KPD recovers stolen HVAC unit, suspect arrested
On February 21, 2025, Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a reported theft in progress on the 300 block of Boy Scout Boulevard. While enroute, officers received a description of the suspect and their vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers determined the suspects had already fled the scene, taking an HVAC unit with them. However, officers later located the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Al Gilchrist (39, of Kinston), who was wearing the same clothing observed during the theft.
Following an investigation, officers obtained and executed a search warrant at Gilchrist’s residence, where they successfully recovered the stolen HVAC unit.
Gilchrist was arrested and booked into the Lenoir County Jail on the following charges:
Felony Conspiracy
Felony Larceny
Possession of Stolen Property
Injury to Real Property
This case remains under investigation.
