Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Arrest
On February 23, 2025, Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to the 700 block of Herbert Drive regarding a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
While patrolling the city, officers located the vehicle on Myrtle Avenue near Caswell Street. As officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver sped off, leading officers on a pursuit that extended beyond Kinston and into Pitt County. The chase ended when the suspect and the vehicle became stuck in the median.
The driver, Jalen Andrews (22 of Kinston), was taken into custody and booked into the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond. Andrews faces multiple charges, including:
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle
Speeding
No Operator’s License
“Fleeing from law enforcement is dangerous and puts innocent lives at risk. Thanks to the diligence of our officers, this individual was taken into custody without further incident. We remain committed to keeping our streets safe and holding offenders accountable.” - Chief Keith Goyette
