The Applebee’s on West Vernon Avenue has closed permanently.

The restaurant has abruptly shut down, with plans for the building to turn into something else in the near future.

In a letter taped to the restaurant from Apple Gold Group CEO Michael Olander, it said “effective October 1, 2018, the Applebee’s at 4483 Hwy 70 West is closed. We regret any inconvenience it has caused our valued guests. We greatly appreciate your patronage and look forward to continuing to serve guests at our other locations (in Goldsboro, New Bern and Wilson).

“Please feel free to contact our guest support line at 888-593-9452 if you have further questions. Thank you for your patronage.”

More details to come.
