We want to thank the public for the many tips that we received to help lead to the locating of Mr Waldo. Previous Story:

The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is seeking the assistance of the public with locating Steven Michael Waldo, 24, who walked away from his residence south of Kinston. A Silver Alert has been issued for Waldo due to previous mental health issues and medical conditions that cause the LCSO to be concerned for his safety. The LCSO has received numerous calls from citizens who saw Waldo that have helped lead the investigation this far.

Detectives have identified Waldo from camera reviews at local businesses. Based on the information and picture, he was safe as of Sunday at 10 a.m., in which camera footage showed him at the Murphy Express Gas Station.

Detectives now believe that Waldo was picked up by an unknown person somewhere on N.C. 11 South and taken to the Murphy Express and the Kinston Pointe shopping center. This area of U.S. 70 in Kinston is a high traffic area and it is possible that Waldo managed to get picked up and taken to another location.

The updated pictures show that Waldo has a beard and confirms the clothing he was wearing include a red flannel shirt and black jeans. Based on interviews, it is believed Waldo was trying to get a ride to Goldsboro.

If you have any information or have seen this person, please contact the LCSO dispatch center at 252-559-6118.

NOTE: The attached picture with the black hoodie is not current. Waldo has a beard but this is a photo to allow viewing of his facial features.
