Lenoir County College Night set for Thursday at Kinston Community Center
Vital information and opportunity will be shared about college at the Kinston Community Center Thursday.
More than 50 college and university representatives will be present at the sixth annual Lenoir County College Night, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Center. Aside from the schools in attendance, there will be a free workshop on financial aid at 6 p.m. in one of the banquet rooms of the Kinston Community Center.
North Lenoir counselor Jennifer Hollingsworth said the ability to have dozens of college representatives will be a boon to high school juniors and seniors across the community.
“It’s a great way to consolidate forces and bring everyone to a central location to learn about these schools,” Hollingsworth said. “Each college will have a table and will be able to answer questions to set students up for college. We’ve invited all of the schools in Lenoir County, along with Greene and Jones to the event, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about different programs and schools.
“Also, we have (Regional Representative) Amy Denton from (College Foundation of North Carolina) to provide a slideshow and answer any financial aid questions.”
Kelly Cannon, facility director of the Kinston Community Center, said the organization was excited to host the event for the third consecutive year.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for high school students to make decisions about their future and it also highlights our youth to the college in attendance,” Cannon said.
