Gordon Street Christian Church announces musical program

The sanctuary of Gordon Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be filled with special holiday music during this Christmas season.

The traditional Lessons and Carols will be presented Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. Accompanying the choir will be a string quartet, flute, harp, percussion, hand bells, piano and organ.

“Come Ye Faithful”, by Hal Hopson, is a creative blend of both familiar and unfamiliar carols. There is also a global emphasis in that the carols are drawn from many different cultures.

Christmas Pipes on Parade concert will be held at 4 pm., Sunday Dec. 23. The program will include seasonal selections by organist Weil Sawyer, hand bell holiday favorites by solo ringer Beth Heath and violin, cello and piano trios by Elizabeth Wynne, Bryant Lee Cox and Weil Sawyer.

GSCC Pastor Doug Stokes, Minister of Music Joanne Heath and the congregation extend a cordial invitation to the public to attend these events in the beautifully decorated sanctuary at 118 E. Gordon Street. People may use the front entrance on Gordon Street or the portico entrance which offers easy access to the elevator.

The ministers and congregation also invite the public to the 11 p.m. Christmas Eve service.
