Ironclad Marketplace opens at new location Tuesday

New year, new location.

Ironclad Marketplace has moved its services to 1303 South Queen St. and will open its doors Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 10 a.m.

The organization, formerly named "I'm Gettin Krafty," debuted in 2016 and made the change to Ironclad Marketplace in April 2017. The marketplace offers antiques, vintage farmhouse décor, collectibles and handmade crafts among other materials.

Ironclad Marketplace co-owner Andy Wade said the organization had been looking to expand for a while and will go from a 1,200 square foot establishment to 12,000.

"We started outgrowing our store about a year ago and looking for a bigger place," Wade said. "Initially, people thought all we had was crafts, so we changed the name. We felt like it needed to be done also because of the historical significance, being so close from the place the CSS Neuse was lifted out of the river."

Booths are still available for those looking to set up shop.

"We've got space for 40 vendors and (as far as Monday afternoon) we've got 34 booths, which blows me away. This happened in about two and a half weeks and hopefully we can have full capacity in the next couple of weeks.

"We rent space out for $1 a square foot plus 10 percent commission. The average booth space is 10 by 10, so that would be about $100 a month.

"We've been blessed to have people shop with us from Raleigh down to the beaches. Hopefully with the new space, we can attract people from even further."
