Hooker played a pivotal role in the Vikings’ 28-23 victory over Farmville Central on Friday. The senior threw for 116 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 43 yards and another score to help Kinston secure an opening-season win.

Alli Grant Avery, Parrott Academy volleyball
Avery helped the Patriots pick up a pair of victories last week with strong play. The junior recorded 32 kills in a five-set victory over Caldwell Academy on Aug. 13 and followed up with eight in a straight-sets win over Calvary Day School the next day.
