Town of La Grange Hurricane Update

Town of La Grange Hurricane Update

As of noon Friday, only 24 people in the Town of La Grange were without power.

“Overnight we had as many as 175 customers without power,” said Town Manager John Craft. “Of the 24 still without power, 22 of them are on a single line that’s too dangerous to work on at this time. The winds are just howling over here right now. We can’t safely put any of our workers up in the air in those conditions when the winds are greater than 35 mph.”

Areas still affected by outages in La Grange are South Caswell Street, Rosedale Avenue, and Lynn Drive.

“There are also two residencies where the electrical service has been damaged,” Craft said.

Craft said that there were two reports of downed trees during the night, but those issues have already been attended to.

“As of now all the roads in La Grange are passable, but we encourage people to stay home.” Craft said.

The Town of La Grange has not enacted any curfews, although they are operating under a state of emergency.

“If anyone in La Grange has an emergency they should call 566-3186,” Craft said. “As for electrical service, we monitor our system and as soon as someone loses power we know it. It’s too dangerous to put technicians up in the air during these powerful wind gusts, so it may be several hours before it’s safe enough to resume repairs. We want your power to be restored as bad as you do.”
