Popular body shop expands to new location

Garriss Body Shop has expanded to assist at a stronger level.

The organization is operating for a second location at 2750 N.C. 11 North. Garriss Body Shop will provide the same service as its Hull Road location for regular vehicles, but can now handle heavy truck collision needs, including 18-wheelers.

“We were pretty much out of room at our Hull Road location and we started doing heavy truck repairs here about a week and a half ago,” Garriss Body Shop owner Thomas Edwards said. “We needed the additional space and wanted to support the county, so it seemed like the right fit to operate here.”

The new shop comes equipped with a 60-foot paint booth and will also assist with emergency vehicle upfitting through its warning solutions department.

“Another reason why we have the new location is to install the necessary equipment on fire, EMS and police vehicles like radios, sirens and lights,” Edwards said.

Edwards said he hopes to do more in the future.

“We’re gradually growing into it and hiring employees as the need arises,” Edwards said. “There are a few other things we have in the works to help this grow even more, perhaps even another service.”

Garriss Body Shop has been in Kinston for more than 35 years and assist with collision repair, frame repair, refinishing, installation and 24-hour towing. For more information, or to set up an appointment, call 252-522-0777.
