Reece Gardner: The so-called whistleblower

The views of columnists are not necessarily those of Neuse News.

If the anti-Trumpers really want to impeach President Trump they should at the very least start by holding a vote in the U.S. House. The so-called whistleblower admits that he doesn't have first-hand knowledge of the content of the conversation in the Inquiry between President Trump and President Zelensky.

Nevertheless, the day the story broke, Adam Schiff & Nancy Pelosi - along with hordes of others - immediately joined forces in calling for the impeachment of the President base on their conclusion that the information in the Trump-Zelensky transcript revealed collusion (where have we heard that term before?). Schiff even went before Congress and read comments supposedly made by Trump in the conversation which indicated a quid pro quo situation involving former VP Biden.

But then on the following day, the unexpected happened with President Trump and President Zelensky releasing the full content of the transcript for all the world to see, revealing that Trump had not said any of the things that Schiff claimed he had said. That should have brought the situation to an immediate halt, but the Pelosi-Schiff inquiry charade continued. Now it has been revealed that the so-called whistleblower has a conflict of interest in that he worked with Joe Biden back when Biden was vice president.

It's no wonder that the accusers are scrambling to keep the identity of the whistleblower secret from the public, and even from most members of the government, as they move forward behind closed doors. This is increasingly looking more like a Kangaroo Court than an inquiry, with the President's attorneys being denied the right to call, or even cross-examine, witnesses.

Also, as White House Counsel Cipollone pointed out, "The House has not provided the Committee's pro-Trump members the authority to issue subpoenas but has granted that authority to the pro-impeachers." In a letter to Pelosi, Cipollone said, "It is apparent that you have resorted to such unprecedented and unconstitutional procedures because you know that a fair process would expose the lack of any basis for your Inquiry." Pelosi was then quoted as saying that even if the inquiry doesn't rise to the level of an impeachable offense, "We will keep searching until we find something that does!"

Actually, Trump's enemies have been trying to impeach him since the moment he was elected. Over the past three years the U.S. House has issued subpoenas to practically every member of Trump's Cabinet as well as to his associates and appointees, causing them much tension and stress and even resulting in the destruction of lives. It could be that the current rush to judgment could be due in part to the revelations SOON to come from Inspector General Horowitz and U.S. Attorney John Durham's very wide-ranging investigations into the actual origins of the Russia Probe which will likely negatively impact Schiff and Pelosi, and large numbers of their associates.

Folks, this effort to impeach Trump has been from the start and continues to be a coup attempt to remove a duly elected president from office. That attempt will fail!

Now for a little humor, highlighting how different people look at situations differently. A priest, a doctor, and an engineer were waiting one morning behind a particularly slow group of golfers. They start getting really upset, and comment thusly:

Engineer: "What's with these guys? We must have been waiting for 25 minutes!"

Doctor: "I don't know, but I've never seen such ineptitude."

Priest: “Hey, here comes the greenskeeper, let's have a word with him."

Priest: “Hi, George, what's with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?"

George: "Yes. That's a group of blind firefighters. They lost their eyesight while saving our clubhouse last year. So we let them play anytime, free of charge."

The reactions were interesting…

Priest: "That's so sad. I will say a special prayer for them tonight."

Doctor: "Good idea. And I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist and see if there's anything he can do for them."

Engineer: "Why can't these guys just play at night?"

Have a great day and be reminded that the polls are now open, so be sure to vote.
