Fire occurred Tuesday morning in abandoned W. Vernon building

The Kinston Fire Department and State Bureau of Investigation are looking into a building fire which took place Tuesday morning.
According to Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue Capt. William Barss, the blaze occurred at 1320 W. Vernon Avenue with a dispatch being made around 5:12 a.m. and is considered an arson. The building, which hadn’t been used in two years since Diffusion Vapor Shop and Lounge moved out, dealt with fires in the second story. There were no injuries.
The fire is still under investigation.
