After one round, Ayden-Grifton stands alone in the EC2A.

The Chargers were the only team from the Eastern Carolina 2A Conference to win a contest Saturday in the NCHSAA 2A state playoffs. Ayden-Grifton was given the No. 3 seed and defeated No. 30 Roanoke Rapids 25-14, 25-17, 25-16 in the process.

Both North Lenoir and South Lenoir played on the road, with the No. 20 Blue Devils falling to No. 13 Midway and the No. 26 Hawks defeated by No. 7 Croatan. Both games were decided in three sets.

West Craven received a No. 11 seed and home game, but the Eagles were upset in four by No. 22 Trinity.

The Chargers will host No. 19 Thomasville Ledford Tuesday.
