Seasonal donations to the Salvation Army are significantly down
Special to Neuse News
Christmas is a joyful season of love and preparation: decorating our homes, buying perfect gifts for our loved ones, and cooking the perfect meal for holiday guests. For people experiencing homelessness and poverty, Christmas can be a season of worry: having a warm bed, food for their children, or a safe place for their family.
The Salvation Army is there to stand in the gap for people in need, providing hope and resources. This Christmas season, The Salvation Army is seeing fewer gifts than last year, but the number of families asking for help is not diminishing. Seasonal donations are down for The Salvation Army of Kinston by $17,471 compared to last year. We need your help.
The Salvation Army of Kinston, serving Lenoir, Duplin, and Greene counties, helps more than 770 people every Christmas. Your support is vital to The Salvation Army ministry, not just during the Christmas season but year around.
“Families are busy preparing for Christmas. Imagine how families facing eviction are preparing,” said Captain Chris Lyles, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army of Kinston. “We ask you to prayerfully consider The Salvation Army as you look for meaningful ways to donate your resources as the year closes. Your donations stay in your community, helping your neighbors.”
