On Friday, February 22, 2019, Lynn Edward Harris Jr. turned himself in at the Lenoir County Magistrates' office. Harris was placed in the Lenoir County Jail without bail pending a first appearance in Lenoir County District Court on Monday, February 25, 2019.

A Kinston man is on the run and facing attempted murder charges, according to the Kinston Police Department.

Age 24 of Kinston, NC

On Thursday, shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person who was shot in the area of the 300 Block of South Adkin Street.  The investigation revealed an altercation took place inside of an apartment building at 308 S. McDaniels St. between two men — Lynn Harris Jr., 24 and Curtis Swinson, 26, both of Kinston. During the altercation, Harris allegedly produced a handgun and reportedly shot Swinson multiple times. 

Swinson was located by responding officers nearby and transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of life-threatening wounds. The whereabouts of Harris are unknown.
