Early Childhood Conference scheduled for Saturday at LCC
The Partnership for Children of Lenoir and Greene Counties will host its annual Early Childhood Conference Saturday at Lenoir Community College.
Registration for the event starts at 7:15 a.m. at the Waller Building and the first session begins at 8:30 a.m. The conference will run until about 3:30 p.m. between the Waller and Administration buildings, and lunch will be provided. Students can earn up to six DCDEE contact credit hours for participating.
The cost of the conference is $30.
The theme of the 2019 Conference is “You Are More Than The Cards You’ve Been Dealt.” Professional Development Coordinator Jeannine Poythress said it will be a powerful event.
“We’ve got a variety of speakers, who are basing their (speeches) on resilience,” Poythress said. “In fact, our opening session is with Tawana Williams, who was born without arms but hasn’t let it affect her ability to be an inspiration to others. We have speakers here to talk about preventing toxic habits, focus on mental health and racial inequality.
“Finally, our closing speaker is a local man, Guardian ad Litem volunteer Brandon Wilson, who can share his story to the people.”
