LCC VP named president of James Sprunt Community College
Dr. Jay Carraway is heading to Kenansville.
Carraway was named president of James Sprunt Community College after an extensive search by the school. Carraway, who currently serves as the vice president of continuing education at Lenoir Community College, was one of four finalists for the position, including a second LCC vice president, Dr. Deborah Grimes.
Carraway, who has more than 30 years in the field of education, said he was thankful to receive the nod.
“It’s an honor and I’m humbled to be selected as the next president of James Sprunt,” Carraway said. “I want to thank the board of trustees with the vote of confidence, and I’m ready to meet the students, faculty and people of Duplin County. James Sprunt is a great community college and I’m ready to get started to hopefully make it better.”
Carraway’s first day is April 29.
