LA GRANGE | The St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church Senior Usher Ministry in La Grange is holding a community service event to honor area pastors and their spouses.

The event — referred to in a press release as a “pastoral gala” — has been dubbed "A Night of Elegance for Pastors and their Wives.” The purpose of the gala is to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who dedicate their lives to the pulpit.

"The event is scheduled to take place Sept. 21," Nelson White, president of the St. Luke Senior Usher's Ministry, said. "We're seeking monetary and food donations from the public in order to provide the gala at no cost to the pastors and their spouses."

Usher ministry chair Barbara Britt added, "We're inviting pastors of all denominations from Lenoir County and the surrounding areas. The public's support is key to making the evening a success."

The gala will take place at the La Grange Community Center, located at 410 East Washington Street, from 6-9 p.m.

To donate food, contact Britt at 252-268-4201 or aniktra@yahoo.com. Monetary donations can be sent to St. Luke FWB Church, 306 W. King St., La Grange, 28551.
