Neuseway Nature Park to hold Earth Day event

There will be no shortage of entertainment at Neuseway Nature Park on April 20.

The park will be the site for its annual Earth Day event, which will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Throughout the day, there will be plenty of family-friendly events, such as face painting, gardening, train rides and visits with local businesses such as Neuse Regional WASA, Kinston Public Services, Neuse Regional Beekeepers and Serenity Modern Apothecary.

Prior to the event, the park will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 9 a.m., complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny. At 10 a.m. in the meeting room, Kim Williams from Lucky Cats of Kinston and Blair Frantz of Kinston Public Services will deliver environmental science presentations. Following their presentations, there will be arts and crafts in the meeting room where visitors can create spring wreaths, garden art and dye eggs.

At the Ellis Planetarium, Lenoir Community College Astronomy Professor Jason Perry will deliver presentations at noon and 2 p.m.; at the Nature Center, Fin-Tastic Fish and Pets will have live animal shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Rockin’ Robins Gourmet Tacos will have a food truck throughout the day and other vendors will have crafts for sale. The park is also selling T-shirts for the event for $20, with all proceeds going toward development.
