Emanuel Fisher, Kinston, track and field

Fisher qualified for states after a blistering time in the 400 meter dash. The senior posted a time of 49.38 in the NCHSAA 2A Eastern Regional May 10, beating out second place by .68 seconds.

His summer plans: To find a job and work on the next phase of his life

Mekaylind Kilpatrick, Kinston, track and field

Kilpatrick won the triple jump event by a solid margin to qualify for the state competition. The sophomore posted a jump of 34 feet, 5 inches in Regionals, 2 feet, 7 inches farther than second place.
