According to a report from ESPN, Kinston’s Brandon Ingram, who has played three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, is set to be traded from the Lakers to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Pelicans are going to receive Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and three first round picks from the Lakers in a trade for Anthony Davis. One of those first round picks is this year’s No. 4 overall selection.
The Pelicans won the NBA Draft Lottery recently and are expected to select Duke freshman Zion Williamson.
Ingram led the Kinston High School boys’ basketball program to four straight state titles from 2012-15, becoming the first player from North Carolina (along with teammate Darnell Dunn) to earn that distinction. He played one year at Duke before being selected second overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.
He has been a star for the Lakers since joining the team, starting 151 of the 190 games in which he’s played. Ingram has averaged 13.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his three-year career.
The 21-year-old was in the midst of his best season this year before an injury knocked him out for the rest of the season. When he was sidelined, Ingram was averaging 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
