Snow Hill town budget passes with no tax increase

SNOW HILL — The Snow Hill town budget is ready to go.
On June 10, the Town Board voted unanimously to pass the 2019-20 fiscal budget, which will go into effect July 1. A balanced general fund budget of $1,141,670, balanced water and sewer budget of $1,137,000 and a balanced capital improvements fund budget of $369,000 was submitted, and the general fund budget has an increase of 4.07 percent, based off a projected
There were no property tax increases, nor water and sewer rate hikes.
“The board took a look at the budget, deliberated and we had a public hearing before agreeing to it,” Snow Hill Town Manager John Bauer said. “It’s a tight budget, but we were able to do it without a tax increase. We did use some of our fund balance and surplus equipment projections, but we believe this will be of benefit to the citizens.”
The tax rate of $0.34 per $100 valuation has been the same in Snow Hill since 2015.
There will be a Greene County budget meeting June 26 at 9 a.m. to finalize the county budget, and it will be held in the Tech Center, located at 402 SE Second St. in Snow Hill.
